GETAWAY : THE BARN IN TIVOLI, NY

I've been on modified bedrest with this pregnancy, which I affectionately refer to as "house arrest" because it basically means being off my feet as much as possible and relaxing. Three months in and my wanderlust is taking me beyond the confines of Los Angeles to other fantasy Summer Vacation spots where I would love to be right about now.

My husband is from New Jersey and we both have friends and family in New York. He has fond memories of college days at Williams, in Massachusetts and I linger on memories of traipsing through the fields at Brimfield flea market. With close ties to the Northeast, including family in Hudson Valley, we often dream about making Summer East Coast trips a family ritual. As we start our own little family, I often imagine how wonderful group family vacations would be-- getting close friends together with their children for relaxation and fun. I'm an only child, so our friends will be my child's extended family.

I found this idyllic barn-turned-vacation-rental on VRBO and fell in love. It looks like the ultimate country stay, complete with attic loft bedroom, wood burning stove, acres of land to explore, a pond, and an outdoor shower. It's also a 5 minute walk to the town of Tivoli where the owners say you can get "fresh baked brioches from the Tivoli Bakery, brunch at Murray's, and whiskey at Traghaven"...yes, please?

It sleeps 6-8 so would be perfect for 2 families to enjoy...when do we leave?
